From Cumberland Trace To Fountain Square

A path known as the Cumberland Trace branched off
from the Wilderness Road in Lincoln County and ran in a
southwesterly direction to the headwaters of the Green
River, and from there wound down to the Barren River
where it crossed at Ewing’s Ford near the mouth of
Drakes Creek. McFadden’s Station, built circa 1785, was
the first structure constructed in what would later become
