To whom it may concern:

Emma Jenkins has asked me to write a letter of reference for her, and I am happy to oblige. I taught Emma in
her ninth grade year here at Landstown High School. During that time, and since, I have noticed several
positive attributes Emma possesses that would make her an outstanding candidate for employment with Virginia
Beach City Public Schools.

When I first met Emma in the Fall Semester of 2016, I immediately noticed her strong appreciation for
education and its principles. Honors English 9 is a challenging course which Emma approached with maturity
and enthusiasm. She was eager to participate in classroom discussions, offered insightful commentary, and
asked thoughtful questions. In addition to excellent classroom behavior, Emma maintained an A average in
English class throughout the year. She was punctual, had impeccable attendance, and welcomed constructive
criticism with ease. Although already a good writer, she was eager to improve and tackled each assignment
with dynamic energy. She grew immensely as a 21st century reader and writer, showcasing her ability with
prompt, attentive, and thorough work. I was further impressed as she enthusiastically went on to Honors
English 10 and Advanced Placement English 11, all while maintaining Honor Roll. Additionally, Emma has
registered for Dual Enrollment English during her senior year where she will further sharpen her writing skills
and jump start her college career with academic credit.

Ms. Jenkins has grown into a young woman who embraces and learns from education and its challenges.
Indeed, because of her natural intelligence and willingness to learn, I foresee great accomplishments from
Emma in the future.
