Chloride is an ion Cl which can cause metals to oxidize.

The related between

chloride with the process in Hydril is when the chloride content above the tolerance limit for
coolants, it’s can cause corrosion or pitting in material. Chloride is always avoided at work that
related to metal working fluids process. Nowdays some user have been used demineralization
water or RO (reverse osmosis) on coolant solution in order to minimize the chloride content
that carried in water.

Chlorine or CL2 is a chemical compound that become base material for extreme
pressure (EP) additives which will be active at 175° C - 425° C. The chlorine content in metal
working fluids process base on Military Standard (MIL-STD-767C) is below 250 ppm. When
its content above 250 ppm will cause corrosion or pitting in material. To avoid the risk of
excess chlorine content in metal working fluid, some of coolants have avoided the use of
chlorine as a base for EP additives. One of the products that We have is Eontrim Microsol 690
XT.

Conclusion:
- Chloride is greatly avoided in metal working fluids process
- Chlorine is an old technology for EP additives, now it has developed coolants with EP
additives that contain with another chemical compound except chlorine
- Eontrim Microsol 690 XT is a coolant that free EP additive chlorinated
