Future career interests (if known):
Computer Programmer or Software Engineer, and Computer Graphic Designer

Targeted soft skills you chose for this year:

1. Self Advocacy
2. Have personal goals

Description of Artifact (*The personal artifact may be anything that demonstrates growth, skills, interests, discoveries, and/or abilities
from your experience this last year -- can be school-related or not.)

Graduation Caps that I have been creating for the graduating class.

Why did you choose this as one of your artifacts?

I chose this as one of my artifacts because this was a new experience for me, having to
work with grad caps and I have never worked on a surface like this up until last year, which was
when I began decorating people’s caps.

How did your experience with this artifact change or impact you?
My experience with this artifact impacted me because I expanded my artistic and creative
abilities by learning how to work on a new surface with new materials. I had to experiment with
last years graduation caps a lot in order to know what worked, and this time around I’m not
struggling as much.

Did you see growth in your targeted soft skills through the course of working on this artifact?
Explain.
I saw growth in having personal goals because I made it a goal of mine to make time to
make graduation caps again this year and I did achieve that, now my next goal is to finish them
by late May. I saw growth in self-advocacy too because I used materials that I wanted to use and
gave those who wanted me to do their grad caps my opinions and views on what would work or
look better for the design they had in mind.

Provide an example of how the skills you practiced or the knowledge you gained via this artifact
may also be used in a career in which you are interested in.
The knowledge I gained while working on this project were the ability to work more
comfortably on surfaces and with materials I’ve never used before, which will help me in college
because I would feel more comfortable working on new design programs, or different computer
systems since I use Windows most of the time and Mac from time to time.
