god created the vegetation on earth which is helpful for human beings in different
ways. all living creatures get food from this vegetation.but still there are some plants
which are poisonous and could be harmful not only for human beings but for all types
of other living creatures. today I wouldlike to talk about a poisonous plant
which people use for daily use as vegetables but It could be could be poisonous and
it is the potato.
Potatoes contain toxic compounds known as glycoalkaloids, of which the most
prevalent are solanine and chaconine. Solanine is also found in other members of
the Solanaceae plant family, which includes Atropa belladonna (“deadly nightshade”)
and Hyoscyamus niger(“henbane”). The concentration of glycoalkaloid in wild
potatoes is sufficient to produce toxic effects in humans. The toxin affects the
nervous system, causing headaches, diarrhea and intense digestive
disturbances, cramps, weakness and confusion, and in severe cases coma and
death.
Poisoning from cultivated potatoes occurs very rarely, however, as toxic compounds
in the potato plant are generally concentrated in the green portions of the plant and
in the fruits, and cultivated varieties contain smaller concentrations than wild
plants. Cooking at high temperatures (over 170 °C or 340 °F) also partly destroys the
toxin. However, exposure to light, physical damage, and age can increase
glycoalkaloid content within the tuber, the highest concentrations occurring just
underneath the skin. Tubers that are exposed to light turn green
from chlorophyll synthesis, thus giving a visual clue as to areas of the tuber that may
have become more toxic; however, this does not provide a definitive guide, as
greening and glycoalkaloid accumulation can occur independently of each other.

Being given the means and opportunities to travel has always been one of the things I
am most thankful for because I have always loved it. It does not matter where
the place is, whether domestic or international, I am always up for going places and
learning about the culture of the people and locals there.
My dream destination is in South America– the Galapagos Islands. I would like to be
able to go to the place where Charles Darwin was able to conceive the theory of
evolution and see the wonders that he saw while he was there. Even though the wildlife
and the environment were what really drew me to the place, I am still also very
interested in the locals and in their way of life. I hope that in the future, conservation is
still very much the priority for the islands and not tourism, seeing as the islands already
attracted tourists which can only grow in number. Putting this place on my bucket list and
checking it off in the future is one of the things I am most looking forward to in this
lifetime.
Although the islands are located on the Equator, the Humboldt Current brings cold water
to them, causing frequent drizzles during most of the year. The weather is periodically
influenced by the El Niño events, which occur about every 3–7 years and are
characterized by warm sea surface temperatures, a rise in sea level, greater wave
action, and a depletion of nutrients in the water.
Weather changes as altitude increases in the large islands. Temperature decreases
gradually with altitude, while precipitation increases due to the condensation of moisture
in clouds on the slopes. There is a large range in precipitation from one place to another,
not only with altitude, but also depending on the location of the islands, and also with the
seasons.
