the state of Nevada, there is a state test called “The Praxis Core Exam” that I must pass before
getting my teaching license. This test consists of mathematics, writing and reading portions. I
must pass these exams to further my education at a University. To pass these exams, I must score
at least a 156 on the reading exam, 162 on the writing exam and a 150 on the mathematics exam.
I have not officially taken the state test, but I have taken multiple practice exams. Before
I began to take the practice exams, I went over what I should know for each subject that I was
being tested on. I bought a Praxis Core Exam practice book at a book store and I began to
practice. I first read the section that tells you what you should know about the exams and then I
went straight into the book to practice. I have also practiced with some of the online practice
When I took my practice test online, I didn’t get the score that I was planning to; I didn’t
put my all into the test. These are my scores: In Math, I scored in the 63% range, which means
that I need improvement in the math section when I take the official Praxis Core Exam; in
Writing, I scored in the 40% range, which means I Need Significant Improvement to pass the
writing section when I take the official Praxis Core Exam; in Reading, I scored in the 38% range,
which means that I need Significant Improvement to pass the reding section when I take the
I am very upset about my test score on this practice exam. What I plan to do to better
prepare myself to pass the exam is do a lot more studying and practicing. I do have a study book
that I purchased, and I plan to work twice as hard on focusing on what I need to improve. When I
feel ready, I will take my first official Praxis Exam; hopefully I pass the first time. If I don’t, then
I will look into better solutions to help me better prepare for the exams, I could look into more
