because they
risked their lives for many people. In the book Fallen Angels by Walter D. Myers a 17 year old boy named
Richie doesn’t know what to do in his life so he enlists himself in the army and joins the Vietnam War. Richie
didn’t know what to do in the future so he wanted to sign up at the army. But then he made a very hard decision
to join the Vietnam War and so he had to risk his life for others. How can bravery and fear impact a person’s
future?
I believe that bravery can impact a person’s future. One reason I say this is because Richie didn’t know
what to do in his life so he joined the army but he had the courage and will to join the army. One quote from
Woodrow Wilson is “The only use of an obstacle is to be overcome. All that an obstacle does with brave men
is, not to frighten them, but to challenge them.” Richie thought the war was going to be over quickly but the war
was nowhere close from being finished. Richie and his friend Pee-Wee were challenged through many obstacles
in the war and overcoming their fears from all the heroic moments of the war. I believe that bravery can impact
I also conclude that fear can impact a person’s future. One reason I say this is, it states on (pg. 98) “I
was nervous being with these new guys. Scotty must have sensed it, because he came over and told me
everything was going to be cool.” Richie was feared because he just met these guys and he didn’t want to get
into trouble with these guys. Another quote in Chapter 11 is “We spend another day laying around. It seemed to
be what the war was about. Hours of boredom, seconds of terror.” This means that Richie was frightened about
the moments he saw and the war was still going on. I believe that fear impacts a person’s future in bad ways
because fear can frighten people a lot and not make them want to do something.
I believe that bravery and fear can impact a person’s future. But other people say that it doesn’t impact a
person’s future because it is a general thing that all people are scared of and people are brave in things. It
impacts a person’s future or career because they can be brave in their future because it can lead them to positive
outcomes and having fear can also have negative outcomes toward a person’s future.
