During my 8th grade year I’ve had opportunities to express my passion for

filmmaking which falls under technology in our S.T.E.M. program (science, technology,

engineering, and math). The day Mr. Blair assigned us this assignment I was so excited

and I couldn't wait to start filming. This project was to teach us the basics of filmmaking;

writing a script, filming, camera angles, editing, and turning in the finishing product. I

was fortunate to have my closest friends in my group which consisted of consisted of

Maria, Mariana, and Ashley. We filmed for three days and our video ended up being 10

minutes and 10 seconds.

While filming this project I learned many things. At the beginning of the project I

was supposed to be one of the main characters, but things were switched and I ended

up recording the whole video. This taught me that sometimes things don't go as

planned, and that's okay. Then, I learned that my group has a really strong relationship

and we work really well together, which I think is why we flowed through the project and

had so much fun. Each of us demonstrated a talent. Acting, writing, filming, editing.

One of the last things that I learned was that I really like editing and putting the film

together with sounds and the film score. We finished 70 percent of our film on the first

day. I got right to editing that same evening to make sure we had everything, and to

check if we needed to film some scenes over again.

This film project not only helped me build a stronger relationship with my friends

but it also helped me to discover a talent that I have and that I enjoy doing. The film

project has been one of the best works I’ve done in a group this whole year. I’m happy

that we got this project so that I could discover what I like to do and another kind of

artform.
