Self Evaluation

Overall, I believe I did a decent job with my essays throughout the year. There are some

technical issues such as occasional spelling, grammar, spacing, etc. that I need to improve on.

The list of things that need improvement include the following:

• Focus on grammatical errors

• Check for pronoun and antecedent agreement

• Fix spacing issues

• Remove nothing words

• Remove repetition

• Use stronger arguments

• Edit essays multiple times

• Fix sentence structure problems

• Use transition words properly and more often

• Use effective attention getter

I think the best one I wrote was the college application narrative. I left a few nothing

words in there but overall I think it was good. My argument essay and synthesis essay were not

as good. They were decent, but they lacked strong points that I struggled to find. In the future, I
would pick a different topic or find better research. My literary criticism essay was decent, I

had multiple good examples of symbolism. I did have a few grammar and spacing issues though.

I think this class has improved my retiring skills. There are still things I need to work on

and my essays aren’t perfect, but they have gotten better from last year. If I were to compare an

essay from last year to an essay from this year, I think I would see improvement from last year. I

will continue to use the skills I have learned in this class next year and throughout college.

Hopefully I continue to grow on these skills as I continue on academically.
