Om O Supreme Personality of Godhead may we hear auspiciousness with our ears May we see
auspiciousness with our eyes May we perform yajas with steady limbs May we offer prayers May we
spend our lives employing these bodies in the service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Om May
the glorious Supreme Personality of Godhead the supreme monarch grant auspiciousness to us May the

narado brahmanam upasametyovaca adhihi bhagavan brahma- vidyam- varistham- yaya cirat sarva-
papam- vyapohya brahma- vidyam- labdhvaisvaryavan bhavati.
naradah - Narada; brahmanam - Brahma; upasametya - approaching; uvaca - said; adhihi - please
teach; bhagavan - O lord; brahma - spiritualk; vidyam - knowledge; varistham - the best; yaya - by
which; cirat - quickly; sarva-papam - all sins; vyapohya - removing; brahma- vidyam - spiritual
knowledge; labdhva - obtaining; aisvaryavan - glorious with spiritual opuelnces; bhavati - becomes.
Once Narada approached Brahma‘ and said O master please teach me the best spiritual knowledge
knowledge that quickly removes all sins and brings spiritual glory and opulence.

mantras; yah - who; veda - knows; sa - he; sruti- smrtitihasa-puranani - the Sruti Smrti Itihasas and
Puranas; veda - knows; sa - he; sarvaisvaryavan - glorious with spiritual opulences; bhavati - becomes.

Smrtis Itihasas and Puranas He becomes glorious with spiritual opulences.

visvottirna-svarupaya
cin-mayananda-rupine tubhyam namo hayagriva
vidya-rajaya visnave svaha svaha namah
te ete - these; mantrah - mantras; visvottirna-svarupaya - whose form is beyond the material world;
cin-mayananda- rupine - whose form is spiritual and full of transcendental bliss; tubhyam - to You;
namah - obeisances; hayagriva - O Lord hayagriva; vidya- rajaya - the king of knowledge; visnave - to
Lord Visnu; svaha - Svaha; svaha’svaha; namah - obeisances.
Here are these mantras Obeisances to You Lord Hayagriva who are beyond the material world and
who are filled with spiritual bliss Obeisances to Lord Visnu who is the monarch of all knowledge.

rg-yajuh„-sama-rupaya - the form of the Rg Sama and Yajur Öedas; vedaharana-karmane - the duties
of the Vedas; pranavodgitha- vapuse - the form of the sacred syllable Om; mahasva-sirase - who has a
horse's head; namah - obesiances; svaha - svaha; svaha - svaha; namah - obeisances..
Obeisances obeisances to Lord Hayagriva who has a horse's head He is the Rg Yajur and Sama
Vedas the duties of the Vedas and the sacred syllable Om.

sarvam bodhaya bodhaya svaha svaha namah
O inconceivable Lord who are hymns of the Vedas the sacred syllable Om the master of all

pustakadhyam catur-bhujam sampurna-candra-sankasam
hayagrivam upasmahe
dhyanam - meditation; sankha - conch; cakra - cakra; maha- mudra - great mudra; pustaka - book;
adhyam-opulent; catur- bhujam - four arms; sampurna-candra-sankasam - splendid like the full moon;
hayagrivam - Lord Hayagriva; upasmahe - we worship.
Meditation
We worship Lord Hayagriva who is splendid like the moon and who holds a conchshell disc maha‘-
mudra and booë in His four arms

- headed by Surya; svatah - personally; sva-sva-karmani - own deeds; pravartante - are; sarvesam - of
all; bijanam - seeds; hayagrivaikaksara-bijam - the seed of the one-syllable Hayagriva mantra;
anuttamam - peerless; mantra-rajatmakam - the king of mantras; bhavati - is; hlaum - hlaum; hayagriva-
svarupah - the form of Lord Hayagriva; bhavati - is.
Nou I will explain the single-syllable Hayagriva mantra Brahma‘ taught this mantra to Siva Siva
taught it to Sankarsana Sankarsana taught it to Narada Narada taught it to Vyasa and Vyasa taught it to
the people This single-syllable bija-mantra is the word Hlaum which consists of the three letters h l and
om They who chant this Hlaum bija-mantra attain both wealth and learning They attain knowledge of
the transcendental form of Lord Hayagriva and they also attain liberation becoming free from the
entanglement of residing in a material body They become the rulers of the dië-palas kings and nagas
Surya and others diligently chant this single-syllable Hayagriva mantra Of all bija-mantras the single-
syllable Hayagriva bija-mantra is the best It is the king of mantras The syllable Hlaum is the
transcendental form of Lord Hayagriva Himself.

amrtam - immortality; kuru - please do; kuru - please do; svaha - svaha; taê-japakanam - of they who
chant this mantra; vaë- siddhih - perfection of eloquence; sri…-siddhih - perfection of wealth; astanga-
yoga-siddhis - perfection of astanga yoga; ca - and; bhavati - is.
Another mantra is Amrtam- kuru kuru svaha (Please make me immortal) They who chant this mantra
attain eloquence wealth and the results of astanga-yoga.

hlaum - Hlaum; sakala-samrajyena - with all kingdoms; siddhim - perfection; kuru - please do; kuru -
please do; svaha - svaha.
Another mantra is Hlaum- sakala-samrajyena siddhim- kuru kuru svaha (Please make me king of all
lands).

tan etan mantran yo veda apavitrah„ pavitro bhavati abrahmacari su-brahmacari bhavati
agamyagamanat puto bhavati patita-sambhasanat puto bhavati brahma- hatyadi-patakair mukto bhavati
grham- grha-patir iva dehi dehante paramatmanam- pravisati.
tan - these; etan - these; mantran - mantras; yah - who; veda - knows; apavitrah - impure; pavitrah -
pure; bhavati - becomes; abrahmacari - not a brahmacari; su-brahmacari - a good brahmacari; bhavati -
becomes; agamyagamanat - from the sin of illicit sex; putah - purified; bhavati - becomes; patita-
sambhasanat - from vices and crimes; putah - purified; bhavati - is; brahma-hatyadi - patakaih - from
many sins beginning with the sin fo killing a brahmana; muktah - freed; bhavati - becomes; grham -
home; grha-patih - master of the home; iva - like; dehi - residing in the body; dehante - at the end of the
body; paramatmanam - the Supreme Personality of Godhead; pravisati - attains.

If he knows these mantras an impure person becomes pure and a debauchee becomes a pure-hearted
celibate He is excused from his crimes He is excused from killing a brahmana and committing a host of
other sins While he lives in this world he controls his body as the master of a house controls his house
At the time of death when he leaves this body he attains the company of the Supreme Personality of
Godhead.

prajanam- brahma aham brahmasmi tat tvam asi ayam atma brahmeti maha-vakyaih„ pratipaditam
artham- ta ete mantrah„ pratipadayanti.
prajanam - knowledge; brahma - spirit; aham - I; brahmasmi - am spirit; tat - that; tvam - you; asi -
are; ayam - this; atma - soul; brahma - is spirit; iti - thus; maha-vakyaih - the great statements;
pratipaditam - proved; artham - meaning; ta - they; ete - they; mantrah - mantras; pratipadayanti -
establish.
These mantras glorifying Lord Hayagriva teach the true meaning of the Vedic statements prajanam-
brahma" aham- brahmasmi" tat tvam asi" and ayam atma brahma".
