CHAPTER 11 : INDEX NUMBER

Nombor indeks ialah satu sukatan yang digunakan untuk menunjukkan perubahan suatu
kuantiti terhadap masa dengan memilih suatu masa tertentu sebagai masa asas.
Index number is a measure used to show the change of a certain quantity for a stated period of
time by choosing a specific time as the base year.

𝐼 = Nombor indeks ; index number

𝑄1 = Kuantiti pada masa tertentu ; quantity at specific time
𝑄0 = Kuantiti pada masa asas ; quantity at base time

Contoh
Example

Bilangan peserta satu seminar pada tahun 2005 ialah 23760 manakala pada tahun 2003 ialah
21600. Hitungkan nombor indeks yang menunjukkan perbezaan peserta seminar tersebut
pada tahun 2005 berasaskan tahun 2003.
The number of participants of a seminar in the year 2005 is 23760 compared to 21600 in the
year 2003. Calculate the index number that shows the difference in number of participants of
that seminar in the year 2005 based on the year 2003.

Indeks Harga
Price Index

Indeks harga ialah suatu sukatan yang menunjukkan perubahan harga suatu barangan pada
suatu masa tertentu.
Price index is a measure that shows the price change for certain goods at a given time.

𝐼 = Indeks harga ; price index

𝑄1 = Harga barang pada masa tertentu ; the price of goods at specific time
𝑄0 = Harga barang pada masa asas ; the price of goods at base time

Contoh
Example

Harga 1 kg rambutan pada tahun 2006 dan 2003 masing-masing ialah RM4.50 dan RM3.60.
Hitung indeks harga 1 kg rambutan pada tahun 2006 berasaskan tahun 2003.
The price of 1 kg of rambutan in the year 2006 and 2003 are RM4.50 and RM3.60 respectively.
Calculate the price index of 1 kg of rambutan in the year 2006 based on the year 2003.

A used car supplier sells 200 cars in the year 2010. Given that the index number for sold cars
in the year 2010 based on the year 2009 is 125. Calculate the number of cars sold in the year
2009.

ialah 150 dan 165. Hitungkan harga rumah pangsa pada tahun 2006.
The price of a terrace house in Taman Ria in the year 2008 is RM82 500. The price indices for
the terrace house in the year 2006 and 2008 using the year 2004 as the base year are 150 and
165 respectively. Calculate the price of the terrace house in the year 2006.

A cake is made using four special ingredients, W, X, Y, and Z. The following table shows the
price of each ingredients on the year 2010 and 2011, the price index for the year 2011 bases
on the year 2010 and the number of servings needed to make the cake.
