Book Review:

I have just finished a wonderful book! The Wonder is a powerful psychological Thriller, Gothic Horror, as
well domestic Psychodrama. The Wonder is the latest masterpiece by Emma Donoghue, an intriguing,
gripping and magnificently written historical fiction, which can grab every reader’s attention from the
very first chapter. Emma transfers a well written, fascinating, atmospheric unique, interesting &
extremely captivating story about an eleven year old girl, Anna O’Donnell, who believes herself to be
living on manna from heaven and is not eating anything from a couple of months. Donoghue’s ninth
novel The Wonder is a thrilling psychodrama, emotional, thought provoking, but at times distributing
once again significant sheer powers of her storytelling ability. Emotionally moved by the religious
atmosphere of Ireland in sixteen to eighteen century, when the country people are living in fear of their
religion and is inspired by innumerable European and North American cases of so called fasting girls in
the name of religion.

I truly loved reading this novel. The characters are mysterious, and the plot of the novel is
complicated. One of my favorite parts was when Anna reveals the truth and also considers herself, a
sinner and this thing is showing the innocence of Anna character. The author keeps you guessing about
the mystery behind fasting at the very end of the story.

I would recommend this novel to anyone with a sense of mysteriousness, truth finding and who
cares about humanity. Don’t read this novel if you don’t like to suspense because there are so many
suspension things. Some of this novel is sad, but the sad parts are important to tell. If you want to read
about hilarious thrilling, mysterious things, then this a book for you.
