High School Résumé

 Colleges, employers, scholarship committees, and community service organizations

want to learn more about you as an individual, beyond your transcript information.

 Include information from grades 9-12.

 Try to keep to one page. Focus on the activities that are most important to you if you
have many. Include dates and hours involved.

 Possible résumé entries in addition to school activities, community service, and

employment include family responsibilities, hobbies, travel, academic interests,
languages spoken, summer classes/enrichment.

 Provide enough detail for the reader to understand your activities, awards, and
work/community service experience.

 Do not assume the reader knows the activities at Arcadia High School. Describe them
(e.g. Link Crew, PowWow).

 Note your leadership roles – team captain, founder of club, leader of a service project,
musical leadership.

 Use action words to describe your involvement – participated, organized, volunteered,

created, coordinated. Additional action words are available online.

 Do not be modest. Be proud of your activities, interests, and accomplishments!
