To Whom It May Concern,

As a homeroom elementary teacher at the International School of Nanshan Shenzhen, I

have felt supported by the committed literacy intervention support that Misty Russell has
provided to my students this year. She is a passionate, knowledgeable, and caring educator.

Misty’s intervention practices have been research-based and student-oriented throughout

each of her intervention cycles. She has consistently demonstrated a clear awareness of
each student’s strengths and next steps, and has carefully differentiated by matching
literacy strategies to each student’s zone of proximal development. Through Misty’s
informed and committed intervention support, the students with whom she has worked
have made measurable progress in their decoding and spelling pattern application abilities.
Misty’s caring nature has been evident in both her celebration of student growth and her
encouragement of student progress throughout the intervention cycles.

Misty has proven to be a strong advocate for her students. She has supported ongoing
student learning by recognizing warning signs of dyslexia and facilitating dyslexia screening
for students. While meeting with parents, Misty has advocated for the support of student
needs while thoughtfully and effectively communicating with families.

I believe that Misty will be a valuable asset to any future educational settings and students.
If you have any further questions with regard to Misty’s literacy intervention skills and
professional conduct, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Ashley Simpson
