Explain: The teacher used almost everything in the class and he used time efficiently. All the
materials were ready on the table for the lesson. The student carried out the activities as
directed by the teacher. The teacher had a good communication with students and always
encouraged them.
It was an interesting experience for me. Classroom observation is a chance for a teacher to
learn new methods and strategies. It is always good experience for the teacher even if he/she is
experienced. I learned some methods and I can say that there is no limit of learning. I observed
science class for 6th grade. The lesson was well-organized/planned and it looked like mostly
student-centered teaching method. Entering the classroom with some materials attracted
students` attention. It can be a good start to grab any grade level students’ attention. The
students were free to ask questions to the teacher. And there was a good communication
between students and the teacher. I saw that he communicated each of the students in the
lesson. The teacher motivated the students effectively. He kept them busy so as not to lose their
focus. Mr. Jacob had a good classroom management. I think, the classroom management is
one the most important things for teaching effectively. He also used his body language and his
gestures. Sometimes using gesture can be an effective method instead of calling out the
students` name to warn them. I want to apply this method for my lessons. He also used time
efficiently and walked around the class. He filled every moment of the lesson. Only some
students talked a little with their friends when they finished writing but Mr. Jacob handled the
case immediately. The quiz game was an interesting closure activity to make sense out of what
has just been taught. What I understand from this observation once again, if a teacher plan
every moment of his/her lesson , he keeps students` motivation and concentration on task.
When students feel more motivated to learn in other words, when engagement is at a high level
, they perform better academically , improve classroom behavior, and gain a higher sense of
self-esteem.
