Week 9 Reflective Journal

This week we completed our third observation centered on language and literacy

development. I found it to be very interesting and my future career will be as a

Speech-Language Pathologist. I enjoyed the prep work because I am a little more familiar

on terms such as phonemes, fluency, and articulation from my other major classes. So

being able to put what I’ve been learning for the past couple of semesters was of much

interest to me. I really enjoyed Chapter 12 as it really put together and showcased all the

tools that are out there when observing. Sometimes observing can seem daunting and the

goal is to do the best job you can for the sake of the child’s development, and knowing

what to use, where, and when explained in the way the book did is a really awesome

resource.

I really enjoyed everyone’s discussion posts this week. It felt like everyone really is

able to connect all that we’ve learned up until this point and formulate some really

interesting responses. I think that we have all grown so much over these past 9 weeks and

have accomplished more than we probably think. Looking back on the e-portfolios will be

a good reminder of that I think. The semester is coming to a close and we have one final

observation to do. So close!! I know we all can do it.
