The plastic underwent shredding, melting and cooling until it was formed as a
tile measuring for about 8.5 inches by 8.5 inches. It was then tested in terms of its bend
strength, water absorption, and compaction. The results were then compared to the
results of the commercial ceramic tile that also underwent the same tests. The results
were then statistically analyzed using Welch’s t-test.
Results of the test revealed that plastics have a significant difference between
the commercial ceramic tiles in terms of water absorption bend strength, and
compaction. For the plastic tiles showed about .55 mean percent of water absorption
while the ceramic tile showed 17 mean percent of water absorption. For bend strength,
the results was based from t<p the result was 5.0436>0.0073. Lastly would be about the
compaction, the results showed that the plastic tile is a 100% compacted while the
ceramic is the opposite.
The research project found out that plastic can be utilized to make constructional
tiles. It showed that plastic has a significant difference between the ceramic tiles by
having the expected results that the researchers wanted to.
