Reflections On Childhood

Childhood is the most important period of life from a person? For some, it depends of the
family creation and the formative training that the child had. For others, no matter what the
circumstances are, childhood is always the most important period of life, both for good or for
evil. This second proposition makes sense. First, both for good or evil, the time of life that are
more propitious to inculcate moral values are in childhood. Scientists say that until the age of six,
the personality of the children is formed. This is a great opportunity to parents to training children
and disciplining them in moral virtues using good literature and, principally, by the good example
of their parents. However, there is also the inverse effect, when parents don´t give the formative
creation that the child needs, “taught” them through a negative model. Children can inculcate
both good things and bad things. Second, the period of childhood is important to the maturation
of a child. The family is the first affection love that the child had and the first that the child give.
It´s the first born of an affection that will influence them of all that lives. The Greek called them
“Storge” love, the basis of all kinds of love that a person will experience in his lifetime. Finally,
the childhood is always part of the memory of the humans being. It´s time to honor the first
authorities, the parents, to learning to honor in the future the public authorities. It´s time to
prepare the virtues, the reason and the affections. Tis time to play and to know. It´s time to
explore and to be curious. It´s time to love and be kind. Childhood cab be romantic or not, but
always will learn unforgettable things, whether for good or for evil, the first steps to the
citizenship.
