Academic Statement of Purpose

Name : Vijaya prakaash R

Program: PhD, Energy Science & Engineering

From childhood, science and mathematics were more than subjects for me. It was another fun
exercise, where I could dirty my hands. My interest in science was enhanced by enrichment
programme and science fairs conducted in our school. I had proclivity towards physics mainly
because concepts were illustrated with experiments and complemented by mathematics. Because
of this love towards physics and mathematics, I decided to pursue my under graduation in
mechanical related subjects.

After completing the senior school education in 2008, I hence decided to pursue under
graduation in aeronautical engineering. A State level score of 1120 out of 1200 and a cut off of
195.75 helped me fetch a seat in Anna University, Chennai. During the first two years of my stay
at UG college Kcg college of Technology, I browsed through the books on Aerodynamics, Flight
Dynamics, Propulsion and Structure in the library. The initial sense of gratification came in the
form of practical training I undertook during my third year of study, at Air Works. It exposed me
for the first time the technicalities of flight overhauling and maintenance. Also projects notably
the ones on materials for Aircraft interiors done under the guidance of Prof. R R Elangovan and
improving the structural strength turned out to be the first stepping stone for my foray into
research. With time, I seemed to be more inclined towards Structures and Aero or Fluid
dynamics.

In Addition to these subjects I have a Passion towards Vibration of Structures which i one of the
Complex and important pertaining Behavior which predominates in all fields. This could be only
accomplished by completing My research in any of my interested area.

I had a keen and strong desire to get in t research field emerging from
a poor family. I would concentrate on my area of research and do my best.
