1. We refer to the above matter and have instructions to address the following
enquiries to you.

2. It has come to our attention that DJP Madondo may have been the subject of
intimidation and/or attempts to prosecute him while he had become the Judge
presiding over this criminal trial. Accordingly, we kindly request your good office to
confirm the following:

2.1. Were you ever approached by the Hawks with a view to prosecuting DJP
Madondo? If so, kindly furnish us with the correspondence and the names
of the officers that approached you.

2.2. Did you receive any correspondence and/or instruction from the office of the
NDPP in respect of the above requesting you to investigate and/or consider
prosecuting DJP Madondo? If so, kindly furnish us with such
correspondence and the full details and reasons for such an instruction and
your reply thereto.

2.3. Any other details relevant to the enquiry including, whether you have
decided to prosecute or not, whether the instruction to prosecute him had
emanated from any other source outside the NPA.

3. Given the urgency of this matter and the fact that the hearing is imminent, we would
appreciate your prompt response in this regard.
