This results in compact, reliable systems that meet today's demands for long-haul voice and data communications. The newest addition to the FALCON family is the AN/PRC-138 Manpack Transceiver. The AN/PRC-138 operates over a 1.6-80MHz frequency range in the AME, CW, SSB, and FM modes to provide interoperability with both HF and VHF radio equipment. Lightweight and rugged, the AN/PRC-138 weighs less than 10Ib/4.5kg (without batteries) and meets MIL-STD-810E environmental specifications. A built-in antenna tuner matches both whip and longwire antennas, and a high speed data ‘modem permits 75-2400bps data operation.
