Planned Assessment

Key Learning Points:

B1 Jesus loved everyone regardless of physical differences
B1.1 Describes ways in which Jesus showed love regardless of physical differences.

Lesson Outcomes:
As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
• Create a digital or hand-drawn comic strip to accurately retell the story of one of the
following Gospels (Matthew 19:13–15; Mark 1:29–31; Luke 5:12–14; Mark 7:31–37; Luke
19:1–10);
• Summarise how the story teaches us to love everyone regardless of physical differences; and
• Explain how Jesus’ actions and teachings in the Gospel story applies to their own lives.

Assessment Specifics:
• The assessment allows students to create their own visual art piece (comic strip), summarise the
overall themes and messages of the story (comprehension/ understanding) and provide a
personal explanation as to how they believe the story relates to their lives.
• An important emphasis of Religious Education is reading the bible and drawing on theological
truths which can be applied to our everyday lives, through which we can live as better Christians.
A such, the assessment looks to evaluate the students level of connection, interpretation and
understanding of the chosen Gospel story and how it relates to their own context, without
assessing their specific level of faith.

Future Planning, Feedback and Reporting to Parents:

• The assessments will assist with the future planning as it will help the assessor to evaluate
whether students require additional assistance regarding lesson instructions and comprehension.
By reading the students thoughts regarding how Jesus’ specific teachings apply to their lives,
students presenting difficulty with this question may be given extra guidance and support to
help them to better understand the importance of Jesus’s modelling and how they too can live
like Jesus.
• Students will be provided feedback on their work via written and verbal means.
• The comic strips will be included in the students portfolios. As this isn’t a reporting term,
feedback pertaining to each students progress and achievements will be relayed in a timely
manner, as well as at the Parent-Teacher interviews.
