You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus
lugares representativos. Escriba un párrafo describiendo cada ciudad, el país al
que pertenece y el lugar mostrado. Use el vocabulario dentro del recuadro para

New York is a big city in the

United States (North
America). It takes thousand of
visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central Park,
the Metropolian museum and
Time’s Square. In the picture
you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is
93 meters tall. The statue is

the Hudson River.

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square
Rome, the capital of Italy, is one of the
oldest cities in the world, as well as one
of the most important cultural centers in
Europe. With the Vatican City and its
cathedral within its territory, Rome is also
the center of Catholicism with its meeting
place. The city was founded during the
8th century BC. as an important trade
route between the Etruscans to the north
and the Greek colonies to the south. It
counts as the legend that it was
originally founded by the twins Romulus
and Remus, who were raised by a
wolf ... As the center of the great Roman
Empire, Rome and was a large city in
the second century BC. During its
splendor in the 3rd century Rome had a
population of 2 million! His fortune
fluctuated with the times and his
population declined during the Middle
Ages, until the Renaissance caused a
new era of growth. The city was chosen
as the capital after the unification of Italy
in 1870. Rome has remained the
political, administrative and cultural
center of Italy.
Sydney is one of the most cosmopolitan
cities in the world, the main destination
for immigrants from Australia. It is
located in the southeast of Australia, on
the shore of the wide bay of Sydney
(Port Jackson). The metropolitan area is
surrounded by national parks that
contain bays and rivers. According to a
study by Mercer on the cost of living, in
2017 the city was ranked as the second
most expensive city in the world in
housing prices after Hong Kong and as

the third most expensive city in the world
to buy the monthly ticket public transport
only below London and Dublin Despite
this, the city is listed as one of the cities
with the highest standards of quality of
life in the world. Sydney leads the list of
the 10 cities with the best quality of life in
the world, in another study carried out by
the same company together with The
Economist magazine. Similarly, the city
was designated in 2016 according to a
study as the city with the best reputation
in the world to live, study and invest,
followed by Vienna in Austria
The Old City of Edinburgh, the capital of
Scotland (United Kingdom) is a World
Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in
1995.1 It has retained its medieval plan
and many modern buildings from the
time of reform.An end is closed by the
castle , mountains and the main artery,
the Royal Mile, currently formed by four
distinctive streets called Castlehill, the
Lawnmarket, the High Street and the
Canongate, which start from there to the
Abbey of Holyrood, today in ruins.
Edinburgh Castle is a ancient fortress
erected on a rock of volcanic origin
located in the center of the city of
Edinburgh.The access to the castle is
made through the esplanade, a wide
paved and inclined plane that is between
the castle proper and the end of the
Royal Mile.
 Dubai is an emirate city of the United
Arab Emirates known for its trade, luxury
boats, shopping centers, deserts,
ultramodern architecture and lively
nightlife. Burj Khalifa, a tower 830 m
high, dominates the landscape full of
skyscrapers. At its feet is the Dubai
Fountain, with choreographies of jets
and lights to the rhythm of the music. In
the artificial islands just off the coast are
Atlantis, La Palma, a tourist center with
water and parks of marine animals.
