the natural history of communicable disease refers to the sequence of events, over a period of time,

in a person who is not receiving treatment. regocnizing these events help us understand how
particular interventions (especially the five-levels of prevention) at different stages can prevent or
control the disease. events that occur inthe naturalhistory of a communicable disease are grouped
into four stages, exposure infection, infectious disease, and outcome. in terms of public health it is
equally important to stress about the modes of transmission of infectious diseases.
