FACULTY COMPENSATION

All faculty members, who are formally engaged in actual teaching service and/or research assignments,
either on full-time or part-time basis, shall be considered as members of the faculty of PCM.

1. DEFINITION OF TERMS

1.1 Full-time faculty members are those who carry a regular teaching load and/or other assigned duties.
They are expected to devote their full working day to the school and are paid on regular monthly basis.

1.2 Part-time faculty members are those who are hired for a specific teaching load on a contractual
basis per semester.

2. FACULTY CLASSIFICATION

2.1 According to Load

In the context of faculty categories, load refers to a faculty member’s total teaching units and/or non-
teaching duties with units equivalents on terms specified by the College President as approved by the
Board of Trustees. Accordingly, a faculty member may be either full-time or part-time.

2.1.1 Full-Time

2.1.1.1 The regular teaching load of a full-time faculty member is 18 units or its
equivalent hours per semester.

2.1.1.2 The work hours of a full-time faculty member shall be 40 hours per week for a
minimum of six hours a day for a five-day work schedule or four hours of a six-day work
schedule.

2.1.1.3 Full-time Academic Administrators are assigned a minimum of six units.

2.1.2 Part-Time

The maximum teaching load of a part-time faculty is 12 units per semester. In


exceptionally meritorious cases, the load of part-time faculty may be increased in 15
units upon recommendation of the Dean and approval of the Vice President for
Academic Affairs.
