Leadership to me is to guide a group to a certain objective. A leadership role that I have
taken is being the team captain of my competitive soccer team. I was team captain for about four years and I was nominated by teammates to be captain. After that day it was now my responsibility to motivate the team and lead them through the game until the final whistle. If they were any issues between the referees or the players I was the one that took control of the situation. I need to make sure that none of my teammates got out of line and also make sure that the peace within the team was still there. As captain, I need to needed to make sure that I didn't lose my cool during practice and on game day because then the rest of the team would feed off my enthusiasm. If my energy were to be negative then we would not play to the best of our ability. I would be the one to defend my team when they need it but also the one that pulls them out when standing your ground was unnecessary. I would lead training, stretching and warm-ups. Being a captain for competitive has also transitioned onto high school soccer as while being on the sideline due to injury keeps me motivating the team through the game. Although not wearing the armband, it did not stop me from talking throughout the game and stopping any disputes within the team and during the game. Being a leader has changed me over the years as it made me take control of situations outside of sports and trying to find ways to resolve them until they are done.
