I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Isaac Garcia, a senior at Merced High School. In my former position
as Project Director of the Gateway Scholars Program through UC Merced’s Center for Educational Partnerships, Isaac was
one of the most active students in the Gateway cohort since his recruitment. The Gateway Scholars Program is an academic
outreach program modeled after UC Scholars EAOP that promotes and provides access to higher education through
academic counseling, higher education workshops, and visits to university/college campuses. It was an honor assisting him
in navigating through his post-secondary options as Isaac showed time and time again what a well-rounded, driven, and kind
young man he is. He has an extremely bright future and this letter serves as my endorsement.

Isaac has dedicated himself to adapting, as a high school shift in his senior year meant that he had to become abruptly
accustomed to a new setting, and new friends. He took this move in stride, with great humor and resiliency. He also
dedicates his time outside of school to his families roofing business. Work that is not easy and is extremely labor intensive.
Most students would shirk from this type of work, Isaac is proud to help his family and talks about it with great devotion.

I have no doubt Isaac will excel in any and all endeavors and wish him the best as he wraps up his high school experience.
He will dedicate himself to his educational avenues in an exemplary manner. I am immensely proud of the work Mr. Garcia
