1- It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Buraidah that his father said: "The Prophet-peace be
upon him-heard a man saying the adhkar below and he PBUH said: “ He(the man)has asked
Allah by His Greatest Name, which if He is asked thereby He gives and if He is called upon
thereby He answers ” - Saheeh Sunan Ibn Majah.
اللهم إني أسألك بأنك أنت هللا الحد الصمد الذي لم يلد ولم يولد ولم يكن له كفوا أحد
Transliteration: Allaahuma innee as’aluka bi’annaka anta-l-llaahu, al-’ahadu-s-samad,
alladhee lam yalid walam yuulad, walam yakun lahu, kufuwan ‘ahad.
Meaning: O Allah! I ask You by virtue of Your being Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient
Master, Who begets not nor was begotten and there is none co-equal or comparable to Him
2- The prophet PBUH usually say the adhkar below encouraged us to seek Allahs refuge
with it due to the fact that it encompasses most of the things that a man would dislike in this
life and hereafter.
وشماتة العداء, وسوء القضاء, ودرك الشقاء,اللهم إني أعوذبك من جهد البلء
Transliteration
Allaahuma innee a’udhubika min jahdi-l-balaai, wa dharaki-sh-shaqaai, wa suu’i-l-qodoo’i,
wa shamaatati-l-a`adaa’i.
Meaning: O Allah! I seek your refuge from severe trials, misery, misfortune, and being
humiliated by enemies.
