I am not one to be very prideful, I know the value of recognition and awards, but it does not
accomplishments, those small decisions that create the big picture. Being a part of the FFA
organization I now realize that that is what I am most proud of. When I decided to become a part
of this amazing organization it was the best choice I had ever made. Honestly, I do not even
remember how I was put into an ag class, whether I signed up or random selection, but
nonetheless it was the most amazing things that could have came across my life. FFA is an
acronym or Future Farmers of America, and when I first became involved I assumed what
everyone else who knew nothing of theorgaization did as well, that I had to be a farmer or that I
had goals to become one in order to be involved. Which is not true by the way, but because of
this closed mindset I did not become involved my freshman year and I regret that decision every
single day, because if I knew better I would be as involved as I could. My sophomore year I
became a little more involved, I even showed a pig that year, and it was kind of uncomfortable
for me but that was a good thing. Mr. Mua helped me out so much and he was there for anything
and everything I needed. I soon felt so comfortable and welcomed within the organization. I met
so many more people who showed as well and that was one of the best parts of it. Everyone in
FFA is just so amazing, the people really do live up to the organization's reputation and keep it
up. You are not just part of an organization, you are part of a family. I am proud to have made
my decisions to step out of my comfort zone and do something I had never done before, because
that decision shaped me to who I am today and shaped the rest of my highschool years. Because
of this decisions I now not only know so many more people in school, but others who are
members of the FFA nationwide, others who are FFA alumni, members of our community who
give back to us and who teach us to give back to others. FFA is not just about agriculture, not
just about showing animals, and not just about wearing the blue corduroy jacket; it is about
lifelong friendships, gaining valuable qualities those of which an FFA member should possess,
and knowing the joys and discomforts but getting through it all.
