Limited Sample - Windows Server 2012 Final

For the final exam of the course, you will be asked to perform certain practical functions.
Over the length of the course, we have gone over the requirements, and you have had the
opportunity to practice them.

What you see following is to give you an idea of what part of the final will look like.
Granted the specific information you see here is not what will she on the exam, but you
can prepare using the following… NOTE there will be more expectations in the exam
than what you see here.

1) Install a Windows 2012 server in a virtual instance as a standalone server. You are
required to rename the server with the computer name as your first name-final.

Example: Bill-Final2012 and the primary administrator account password will be

P@ssw0rd.

Ensure that correct date and time are set to Central time zone.

2) You will also need to create a secondary administrator account call Admin with the
password of P@ssw0rd.

For the following expectations, you will need to create some users which will be used to
test access and permissions.

3) Create the following users – user login id’s should be the person’s first initial and
lastname. Example: Robin Smith would be rsmith.

Users:
Regulus Black
Lavendor Brown
Charity Burbage
Lee Jordan
Garrick Olivander
Peter Pettigrew
Rufu Scimgeour
Dolores Umbridge

4) In a root Users directory, a folder for each of the users to be used as their home folder.
Users should have logged in and server generated data should be in every user’s home
directory.

For the users’ home directories, set the permissions so that administrators have full
control and each user has modify or change permissions for both share and security
permissions on their home folder.

​5) Create the following folder/file structure in C: drive. Put at least 1 text file in the
Rock, Jazz, Alternative and OldTyme sub folders.

​Jazz

​Alternative

​OldTyme

5) Create the following groups with the respected department group memberships
Black, Olivander and Jordan are in Rock Group; Brown, Burbage, Pettigrew and
Umbridge are in Jazz Group; Scrimgeour, Olivander and Brown are in the Alternative
Group; and Umbridge and Black are in Old Tyme Group. Put all the users you have
created except admin users into a group call Musicgrp.
NOTE: You can use rockgrp for the rock group name etc…..

6) Remove inheritance from the Music,Rock,Jazz,Alternative and OldTyme folders.

Change permissions to match the following

Music – Administrators get full control and Musicgrp get modify

Rock - Administrators get full control and Rockgrp get modify
Jazz - Administrators get full control and Jazzgrp get modify
Alternative - Administrators get full control and Alternativegrp get modify
OldTyme - Administrators get full control and OldTymegrp get modify
