Pride Sample

I am very proud that I got accepted to Uc Merced because although I am the third child in

my family to get accepted there I worked hard for it. All four years in High School was in

preparation for this upcoming year. I did get accepted to Uc Merced with the major of Mechanical

Engineering which is not as easy as getting accepted as undeclared. At first, I wanted to major in

Computer Science like my older brother did. My brother told me to first look up what that major

consisted of to see if I would like that major. After further research and taking classes at MHS i

realized that Computer Science was not something I was going to enjoy.

Mechanical engineering deals with designing many things that can include machinery and

buildings. I did further research about this career and after researching I found this this was

something that I wanted to pursue. In Mechanical engineering I can do hands on jobs or design

things. I found this to be more interesting than Computer Science because I don’t just have to code

websites which I didn’t find very fun.

This is very important for me because this is going to be the start of my career in which I

will pursue. I am happy with what I have accomplished in high school because that’s what

determined my acceptance at Uc Merced. Although I could have done a better job in high school

with my grades I can learn from these mistakes and apply them in my future. Overall, I am happy

with my accomplishments.
