Pride Sample

The two pictures you see in my pride visual resemble all the hard

work,dedication, blood sweat and tears and all the late nights that I put into my craft. I

turn regular nappy hair into a faded smooth work of art. It wasn’t easy getting to where I

am today and that’s why I take so much pride into it. At first I thought cutting hair was

going to be easy but oh boy was I wrong. It was a struggle at first and a big one at that.

Cutting hair is more than getting a pair of clippers and just attacking the hair with them.

You have to know where to set your guidelines, how to blend, when to use your corners,

how to do a straight lineup, how to work with different types of hair, how to hold a razor,

how to know how to cut hair on top with scissors and most importantly how to create a

relationship with the person sitting in your chair so that they feel sort of at home with a

good vibe in the barbershop flowing around. Many people think being a barber is easy

and some even look down on it but little do they know that there are some barbers that

took their job seriously that are living in mansions and cutting up celebrities. Being a

barber means more than cutting someone's hair, it’s an art form and you’re responsible

for someone to look good for about two weeks lol.

Honestly what made me get into barbering was how much I was paying my

barber to cut my hair and I realized it was quite a bit of money and I thought, “hey if he

can do this, why can’t I..?” and I decided to give it a try and I’ve grown to be passionate

about it and even though your legs start to hurt after a couple haircuts and your arms

get sore it’s fun and you create friendships with people and you sometimes get to meet

new people as well when they sit down in your chair. Honestly one of the best feelings
in the world is when someone looks in the mirror after you just got done cutting them up

and they are so excited and grateful and that’s why I still cut hair till this day.
