Main objective of this bed is to give assistance to bedridden
patients who is isolated from society and for others using
technology.
Can be implemented in hospital there by enhancing medical
facilities of a hospital using modern technology. And through this
increase the overall hygiene of hospital. Since hygiene is an
important factor to avoid epedemics this idea seems
important.And the other thing is that its running cost will be less
so it can be easily implemented in hospitals.since drier is used in
the last portion of cleaning problems due to wetness can be
avoided.So this system can be used for betterment of society.

6. Abstract (max.300 words): One of the best things to do for any bedridden patient to make sure their basic
hygiene. The major problem faced by a bedridden patient is the removal of human excreta and the cleaning
purpose. A separate assistance is to be provided for this purpose. Since the availability of helper is tentative. In
this project, we introduce a system which can remove the stool of the patient and also cleans the patient. It
consists of an adjustable mechanical structure which is actuated by an electric motor under the control of
instructions provided by the patient. The proposed device is actuated by the remote signal given by the user. In
its modified version, mind controller can be utilised. If the patient needs to sit, then he or she can slides a portim
90 degree by using an IR remote sensor. A chair shaped structure can be created. A tank will be connected at the
end of of the pipe by which stool can be deposited and can be removed. Forced water can be given to patient for
cleaning. Sensor helps to operate the water flowing system. The motion for this idea arises from the problem of

7. METHODOLOGY

Our project is to create a mechanical system that can remove the human excreta for bedridden
patients. There is no need of an external assistance for the patient to remove the stool and clean
their body portion. Through this when required the patient can press an IR remote ,It will actuate
system IR receiver is connected to one of the node of ROS and the ROS will assist the signal to
microcontroller. The microcontroller will give signal to the motor driving the sliding mechanism . The
bed is having a second target by which a tank is connected to larger by a pipe. After actuating the
mechanism for cleaning the narrow pipe will be extended to the portion and water will be sprayed at
can be closed after the cleaning mechanism .

Terms and Conditions

I. The scheme is constituted for the purpose of providing assistance in the fonn of grants to
students for scientific research work with particular relevance to the State of Kerala in the
economic and industrial development.

2 Grant will be released to the principal investigator after the completion of the project through
the Head of the institution.

3. The maximum duration of the project will be one year from the date of start of the project

4. Th is date of start of the project should be intimated by the Institution authorities/Principal

Investigator to the Council. It shall, in no case be later than one month after the receipt of the
intimation letter from KSCSTE.

5. On completion of the project, one hard copy and a soft copy (as pdf) of the final project
report on the work done in the prescribed fonnat should be sent to the Council along with the
utilization certificate (UC) and statement of expenditure (SE). The Utilization Certificate
and Statement of Expenditure should be countersigned by the HOI arxi shall be sul:miued a5 per the
mks of KSCSTE.

6. The institute will maintain separate audited accounts for the project

7. The institute will not entrust the implementation of the work for which the grant is being
sanctioned to another institution nor will it divert the grant receipts to other institute as
assistance.

8. The council reserves the right to tenninate the project at any stage if it is convinced that the
grant has not been properly utilized or appropriate progress is not being made. In addition,
the Council may designate Scientist/Specialist or an Expert Panel to review the work cble.

9. . If the PI to whom the project has been sanctioned wishes to leave the Institution where the
project is based, the Institute/Pl will inform the same to the Council and in consultation with
Council, evolve steps to ensure successful completion of the project, before relieving the Pl

10. Investigators must acknowledge the Council in reports and technical/scientific papers
publishing based on the research work done under the project. Investigators are requested to
publish some of the research papers emerging out of the project work in leading Indian
Journals.

11. If the results of research are to be legally protected by way of patent/copy rights etc. the
results should not be published without action being taken to secure legal protection for the
research results.

12 The knowledge generated from the project will be the property of KSCSTE and should be
properly acknowledged. Transfer to technology generated shall be done in consultation with
the Council.

13. The Council may enforce additional guidelines for the operation of the student project from
time to time and the Institution/Investigators are required to observe such directions in the
conduct of the research work.
