REFLECTION 3

Learning about the various presentation software in teaching and learning opened

up a whole new world for me. Sway and Prezi already caught my attention and I am excited
to use it in my teaching. I think it is more user friendly than Microsoft Power Point and

has a lot more features which makes its use easier.

As a Mathematics teacher, it is time consuming to draw diagrams to demonstrate

the use of the Cartesian plane to plot ordered pairs and draw linear and quadratic

functions. If samples of these graphs are embedded in the presentation with notes, it
saves time and it will grasp students’ attention more than if it was drawn on the white

board.

Some students are visual learners and Prezi serves as a medium to reach out to

such learners. The first view of Prezi summarizes the entire presentation and some learners
might remember a topic as a flow chart and be able to expand on their own.

Microsoft 365 has brought me up to date with the latest in ICT in education. Our

present students are already drawn to technology from a tender age, and I think this way
will definitely make them become interested in class and participate rather than fall asleep

or stay away from classes because of traditional methods.

These tools will allow the teacher to have more time to interact with students and
also have better control as he/she would be face to face with the students most times. As
compared to long notes being written on the white board or typed out, these

presentations can be printed in an economical way whereby more than one slides can be
printed on a sheet of paper. This would benefit the school’s funds and most of all the

environment.
