COMPENDIUM OF ACADEMIC CIRCULARS, MEMORANDA AND GENERAL ORDER ON FACULTY AND STUDENTS (2007-2013) VOLUME 3 March 2014 FOREWORD UNIVERSITY OF THE EAST Manila OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT AND GHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER, ‘Sometime in School Year 2006-2007, a technical committee was created to produce a compilation of academic and administrative circulars, policies and directives promulgated from 1990 to 2006. The technical committee came up with two volumes of Compendium of Academic Circulars, General Orders and Memoranda relating to students (Volume 1) and faculty (Volume 2). It was released in January 2007 and copies were distributed to the key officials of the University. Since then, the compendium has been used as reference material in committee meetings and academic discussions and became vital source of information for research and other academic undertakings. The technical committee uploaded the entire compendium in the Student and Faculty Portals of the UE Website to make it more accessible and user-friendly to the University constituents. In view of recent developments over the years, the Department of Registration and Records Management (DRRM) realized the need to come up with Volume 3 of the compendium, ie. a compilation of academic circulars, general order and memoranda from 2007 to 2013. It is important to note that most academic circulars approved during this period were revisions of University policies promulgated in the past. They were revised to conform to the demands and the needs of the stakeholders as well as the new challenges arising from recent developments such as the use of computer in education. A number of new policies were introduced from 2007 to 2013 in response to the current trends in business and industries as well as to comply with the directives and issuances of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and other government agencies. in view of the impending implementation of new paradigms in the Philippine educational system such as the K-12 and the typology of higher education institutions, these circulars and policies will soon be revised again to attune them to these foreseen new challenges. It is the responsibility of the Academic Council to ensure that the University policies are responsive to the changing demands of the changing times and steadfast to the Mission and Vision of the University. . d Ac ESTER A.
