DIRECT USE OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY IN LAHENDONG GEOTHERMAL FIELD, NORTH

SULAWESI for PALM SUGAR CRYSTALS AND DRYING COPRA

Lahendong geothermal field, in Tomohon City, already produced 120 MW of energy by Petamina
Geothermal Energy (PGE) using for electricity in most of North Sulawesi region. This is really helpful
because the province need more electricity supply by demands. Brine from Lahendong power plant used
for palm sugar crystals and drying copra. By the problem faced by farmers to produced their goods,
using brine can simplify the production process so that it becomes more efficient in terms of time and
utilization of energy sources. Peoples around Lahendong can directly feel the economic benefits in terms
of production of agricultural products and marketing so as to increase their income.

Lapangan geotermal Lahendong yang berlokasi di kota Tomohon telah memproduksi energy sebesar 120
MW oleh Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) untuk kebutuhan listrik yang telah digunakan di sebagian
besar daerah provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Penambahan supply listrik dari energi geotermal sangat
membantu dalam hal kebutuhan listrik di provinsi ini sangat dibutuhkan. Brine dari sumur geotermal
Lahendong digunakan untuk keperluan di pabrik gula dan pengeringan kopra. Memahami permasalahn
yang utama dihadapi para petani dalam memproduksi hasil pertanian, penggunaan brine dapat
mempermudah proses produksi menjadi lebih efisien secara waktu dan penggunaan sumber energi.
Masyarakat sekitar Lahendong dapat merasakan langsung dampak penggunaan energi geotermal untuk
peningkatan produksi pertanian yang secara ekonomi dapat menambah penghasilan.
