College Comparative Analysis Essay

When I was younger I never thought about going to college because it did not interest

me. For my Economics class, I was assigned to create a college plan that was required for my

Senior Defense portfolio. To complete my college plan I had to research the cost, statistics, and

contact information for my top two college choices. Based on my research I have considered

attending California State University Long Beach over California State University Dominguez

Hills.

For the cost and tuition for these two schools, California State University Long Beach is

slightly more expensive than California State University Dominguez Hills. California State

University Long Beach has a tuition cost of $6,798, while California State University

Dominguez Hills has a tuition cost of $6,213. Although Cal State Long Beach tuition cost is

more than Dominguez Hills. Based on my budget it would be more convenient for me to attend

Cal State Dominguez Hills. Based on the costs, California State University Dominguez Hills

Based on the demographics, California State University Long Beach is a better choice

than California State University Dominguez Hills. Although Cal State Long Beach has a higher

crime rate than Dominguez Hills, Long Beach has a higher graduation rate for full-time students.

Cal State Long Beach also has a higher school ranking which is really important. In terms of

ethnic breakdown, both schools have a majority of Hispanic/Latino students.

 In terms of logistics, California State University Dominguez Hills is a better choice than

California State University Long Beach. Cal State Dominguez Hills is a shorter distance away

from my home than Cal State Long Beach. On the other hand, Cal State Long Beach has more

resources and recreational areas. Cal State Dominguez Hills is also a bigger campus than Cal

State Long Beach reaching 346 acres.

What I learned from this experience is that there many factors and things to look into

when deciding what college is best for you. This project has also helped me decide that

California State University Long Beach is better for me because it offers a major that I really

want to go into and I didn't know that California State University Dominguez Hills did not offer

that major.
