ABSTRACT
Ni 0.5 Zn 0.5 Fe 2 O 4 -epoxy resin nanocomposites with different ferrite/epoxy
rasio and different thickness were prepared from iron sand by coprecipitation
method. The phase composition has been analyzed using Materials Analysis
Using Diffraction (MAUD) and showed that coprecipitation method is effective to
synthesize a high purity of Ni-Zn ferrite powders. Ni-Zn ferrite with 98% purity
and crystal size of 7.5 nm was used as filler of the composite. Low magnetic
saturation (42 emu / g) and crystal size indicate the formation of single domain.
Absorption characteristics were investigated in the frequency range of 6 to 18
Ghz. High absorption (above 99%) with RL < -20 dB was obtained from samples
with different compositions, frequencies and thicknesses. The frequency
resonance was shifted down due to increased of thickness and ferrite contents.
These results indicate that the absorption frequencies can be controlled by the
composition and thickness.

Key words: Ferrite, epoxy, copresipitation, microwave absorbing material.
