Dear parents and guardians,

We are currently working on a math unit on Financial Literacy. In grade two, students need to
able to identify the Canadian coins and combinations of coins up to 100 cents.

To be successful with this unit, it is very important for students to know the names of the coins
and how much they are worth. Practicing naming each coin and adding different coins up will
be very beneficial to their success with Financial Literacy. Handling real coins and sorting them
will greatly help their coin recognition.
