I have known Kiri for the past two years, but feel very fortunate this year to have her as a student in my Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition class at Merced High School. I have witnessed her tremendous growth and development over the years, academically and personally. It is with much pleasure and sincerity that I write this letter on her behalf. 1 first met Kiri last year through her participation in our high school’s Every 15 Minutes Program, a school-wide initiative to teach our youth about the dangers of driving under the influence. Her maturity and motivation was as evident then as itis now. Kiri has certainly proven to be an extraordinary young woman. She is intelligent, driven, and always willing to help others. Academically, she has challenged herself by enrolling in several advanced classes and continues to be a dedicated student and an independent worker. She is also very outgoing, isa leader among her peers, and always interacts with other students in a positive manner. She does her best at any task put before her. Whether working independently or with a group, Kiri displays a willingness to lead and is always an active participant. In addition to her academic achievement, Kiri has been involved in many extra- curricular activities on campus. She has been a valuable member of our Kiwins club and has taken on leadership roles with the Leo club, serving throughout the years in the capacity of Secretary and most recently, President. In addition to this, Kiri finds time to volunteer in our community. She has eamed over two hundred community service hours by volunteering at both our hospital and the middie schools within our community. Kiri’s academic achievement, work ethic, and strong personal qualities undoubtedly account for her continued success. I recommend Kiri with absolute confidence. She knows the importance of education and the reward of strong personal character. She certainly has the desire and potential to succeed. I have absolutely no doubt that Kiri wilt continue to rise to any challenge that she faces in college and beyond. Overall, her excellent qualities will remain with her and continue to make her successful in all of her future endeavors. It has sincerely been a pleasure for me to know Kiri and be her teacher.
