Redundancy

Remuneration – the reward for employment in the form of pay, salary, or wage, including allowances,
benefits (such as company car, medical plan, pension plan), bonuses, cash incentives, and monetary

Working conditions – alternative definitions:

 the conditions in which an individual or staff works, including but not limited to such things as
amenities, physical environment, stress and noise levels, degree of safety or danger, and the like

 It refers to the working environment and all existing circumstances affecting labour in the
workplace, including job hours, physical aspects, legal rights and responsibilities

Industrial relations – a multidisciplinary field that studies the employment relationships (Wikipedia)

 It is increasingly being called employment relations or employee relations because of the non-
industrial employment relations
 It further broadens the field of human relations management

Redundancy – alternative definitions:

 the state of being redundant


 (chiefly British) the state of being unemployed because work is no longer offered or considered
necessary
 a dismissal of an employee from work for no longer being necessary; a lay off

It is a form of dismissal from one’s job, which happens when employers need to reduce their workforce.

If someone is made redundant, they might be eligible for certain rights, including:

 redundancy pay;
 a notice period;
 a consultation with their employer;
 the option to move to a different job;
 time off to find a new job.
