THE BIRDS
We first met Ash, a hawk
missing one of his claw nails.
Hawks often loose them while
hunting. They catch the
animals with their claws, and
then some nails may break.
Almost all of the students
were able to give Ash some
meat and hold him on their
arm. I was one of the students
who weren’t able to hold Ash.
FALCONRY HERSTMONCEUX
We went to the Falconry in Herstmonceux. It was a very nice trip. We
learned a lot about the birds. The man also told about the nails which
the hawks sometimes break. He really said: ”He lost a nail right here,
they do break their nails in backs of rabbits and things and everything.”
He has a very good bond with the birds, which was nice to see. When we
walked through the forest with ash, the guy only had to say ash and
wistle, and ash came. Ash thought we were part of his pack, and that’s
how he treated us. I think this was the best activity in Lewes.

Next he took the owl. This owl

was a real mannequin. She
often sits on your shoulder,
letting you take some pictures.
Then she jumps on top of your
head. I think everybody that
wanted was able to take some
awesome pictures.

Next we had the Vulture. It

was very nice. I do have a
picture from it. The vulture is
a very rare bird. Maybe the
rarest of all of the birds they
had there. Also the most
weighing bird of all.

To finish we met the Peregrain

Falcon (Dutch: Slechtvalk). It
flew past us and played with
the guy. It was very quiet and
fast.
