markers) of Copic brand alcohol markers out of three other brands (Ohuhu, Art n’ Fly,
Colorona). The main questions that were put in place are how much do they cost, how many
colors do you get, what are the qualities of the nibs and whole marker, how sensitive is the ink to
sunlight, how well does it blend, how much does it bleed, does it smudge line art pens, and do
white gel pens show up on it. Overall, it was predicted that Ohuhu would test better than the
others. Two different colored markers from each brand were tested on if they smudged the line
art pen, how well they blended (4 different colored markers for this test), if the white gel pen
showed up on the ink, how much they bled, and how sensitive they were to sunlight. For the ink
sensitivity test, swatches of ink were left in direct sunlight for a month and compared to new
swatches afterwards. The ink sensitivity to light test did not support the hypothesis since this is
far from the order previously predicted. The blending test did not support the hypothesis because
it was thought that Ohuhu would be the most streaky, not Colorona. The bleed test did not
support the hypothesis because Colorona bled the most, not Art n’ Fly. The line art test did not
support the hypothesis because before it was thought each brand would smudge in some amount.
The gel pen test did support the hypothesis because each marker performed exactly as predicted.
The gel pen test could have been skewed slightly because Colorona was more saturated and
darker than the rest of the markers. This could lead the white to show up better because it was
easier to see compared to white on a lighter color. Overall, the best low-cost replacement for
