Q.No. 1. (a) Define the topological space. Define the closure of a subset A of X. Show that
closure of A is closed subset of X.

(b). Define complete metric space. Prove that l  is complete metric space. Also give an
example of a metric space which is not complete.

Q.No. 2. (a) Define subbasis of a topological space X. prove that open interval type (a,b) with
a,b,  Q form a subbasis for the usual topology on R
(b). Define the term second countable and separable space. Show that a second countable space
is separable.

Q.No. 3.(a) Define compact set. Prove that continuous of a compact set is compact.
(b). Let X be a topological space such that X has connected subset A such that the closure of
A is X. Prove that X is connected.

Q.No. 4. (a) Closed subspace of a normal space is normal.

(b) Let f: X Y be continuous and assume that A  X . If x  Cl ( A), f(x)  Cl ( f ( A)).

Q.No. 5. Stata and prove Urysohn’s Leema.

Q.No. 6. (a) If X is connected and f: X  Y is continuous, then f(X) is connected in Y.

(b). Let X be a hausdorff topological space and A be compact in X. Then A is Closed in X.

Q.No. 7. (a) If X is compact metric space then X is complete.

(b). Let f: X Y be continuous if and only if, for every x  X and every open set U
containing f(x), there exixts a neighbourhood V of x such that f (V )  U .
