Many schools already require their students to take two years of a consecutive foreign
language. There are many languages spoken all over the world, 6,909 to be exact. All students
should be required to take a foreign language class for two years because most college and
universities look for it, there will be more job opportunities, and it'll be easier to travel and talk
to tourists.
While there are still some colleges that are okay with students not having taken multiple
years of a single foreign language, most bigger universities still look for it on applications. These
universities may even require it in order to get accepted. According to collegeboard.com “Solid
foreign language study shows that you're willing to stretch beyond the basics.” Also it may
Not only will the student have more college opportunities but they may have better
chances at finding jobs. Cms.bsu.org states “ For example, you may want to major in a particular
foreign language and become certified to teach. This would enable you to take a job either
teaching that foreign language, teaching English as a foreign language, or teaching in a bilingual
setting.” There are certain jobs that require their employees to have a foreign language under
their belt. Some of these include international sales manager, study abroad coordinator, foreign
service officer, etc. Most employers find it impressive to see foreign languages on resumes and
applications which will then give the applicant a higher chance of being hired. Knowing multiple

languages may also bring in more business from tourists and being able to communicate with
them well.
Having multiple years and knowing a foreign language would also make traveling easier
and more enjoyable. When many other people travel they experience a language barrier that
doesn't allow them to do some activities. It’d would also make it easier to know what's going on
and what the person may have to purchase. Not only that but some people even have trouble just
communicating with their neighbors due to the United States being such a large ethnic melting
pot. “The Latino population in the United States has reached nearly 58 million in 2016”
