Alan Turing

Male. A homosexual who comes out later in the story, but hides it because in the
time period, it is illegal. He is a mathematician with a love for puzzles and
games. He is the one to break the German code �Enigma� and win World War I. He
takes his work very seriously and thinks the other boys will only hold him back. He
has a group of �Enigma-Breakers� including Joan, Hugh, John, Peter, and Jack.
Joan Clarke
Female. A woman who joins up with Alan to help solve Enigma. She is not afraid to
say what she has to say, but can be kind when she wants to. She is very smart and
impresses Alan most of the time. She is part of Alan�s group.
Hugh Alexander
Male. Considered the more �attractive� man of the group. He seems very stuck up at
times and does not like Alan. He is a very smart mathematician isn�t the most
motivated about his job breaking Enigma. He is part of Alan�s group.
John Cairncross
Male. He is the more humorous of the group. He isn�t very sure of Alan�s work at
first, but soon learns to like him. Later in the story, you learn that John is
secretly a soviet spy. He is part of Alan�s group.
Peter Hilton
Male. A quiet, frail man who is scared to stand up for himself and comes off
wimpish. He is part of Alan�s group.
Jack Good
Male. A small character who normally keeps his words to himself, but gets recruited
into Alan�s group.
Commander Denniston
Male. Commander in his military branch. He does not like Alan and will find any
reason to take him out of his position from leader of his group.
Stella Menzies
Female. MI6 agent who knows about John�s soviet ways, but doesn�t say anything
about it to sabotage the Germans. She is very tough and stern, but believe Alan can
do what he has to do.
Nock
Male. A detective who is looking into Alan�s case of his robbery.
Sergeant Staehl
Male. A guard who Detective Nock leads and gets help by in investigations.
Young Alan Turing
Male. Alan Turing as a young boy. He doesn�t want talk to anyone except
Christopher. He ends up falling in love with Christopher.
Christopher Morcom
Male. Young Alan Turing�s love interest. He is very kind and thoughtful of Young
Alan Turing, but doesn�t tell him that he is slowly dying.
Helen
Female. Joan Clarke�s best friend who is always very smiley.
Agent Ian
Male. An Agent working with Detective Nock who is very stern.
Newspaper Girl
Margaret
Female. A loud, enthusiastic girl selling newspapers.
Commander Denniston�s Assistant.
Keith
Male. A worker for Alan�s group who soon gets fired.
Charley
Male. A worker for Alan�s group who soon gets fired.
Professor Rachel
Female. A teacher at Bletchley.
Joan�s Mother
Female. The mother of Joan Clarke. Very perky.
Joan�s Father
Male. The father of Joan Clarke. He has an upbeat personality.
Principal
Female. The principal of Young Alan Turing�s school. Nonchalant.
