CPTACNA

San Pedro of Tacna is the capital of the Tacna department located in southern Peru. It is located on
the banks of the Caplina River, in a small valley in the middle of the Peruvian coastal desert. It is
the tenth most populated city in Peru and housed 320 240 inhabitants in 2015.

1. FIRST YOU SHOULD VISIT THE PATRIMONY:

 Alto de la Alianza monumental complex: Its located 8 kilometers from the city and was built
in honor of the fallen in the Battle of Tacna in 1880. It is a historic place that you have a
good time .You can see the monument, the holy field and the museum.

 The Parabolic Arc: It is the symbol of the Tacna heroic city and is located on the Civic Walk,
where it was built in honor of the heroes of the Pacific War, Francisco Bolognesi and Miguel
Grau. It is a very beautiful place that you can take photos.

 The Cathedral: It is built under a neo-Renaissance style and with a very stylized
architecture. It was designed by Frenchman Gustave Eiffel, famous for the Tower that
bears his name in Paris. It is a huge and safe place for talk with people.

 Petroglyphs of Miculla: 22 kilometers from the city are these petroglyphs dating from 500
after Christ and they show drawings related to the fauna, flora, constellations and rites of
the cartoonists themselves. It is a very attractive place due to the art that is expressed
in the figures.

 The Locomotive Park, which exhibits since 1977 the Locomotive No. 3 that transported the
Peruvian troops for the defense of Arica from Tacna, during the Pacific War. It is a
wonderful machine and is very careful.

 La mezquita de Tacna: The mezquita was built by a group of Pakistani merchants and is
the only Islamic construction in Peru from the traditional architectural point of view. It is a
strange construction but beautiful and amazing.

2. SECOND YOU SHOULD TASTE ITS DELICIOUS AND VARIED FOOD:

 The main food representatives are:


o Picante a la Tacneña: Basically it is composed for tripe, lamb, beef, cumin, ground
garlic.
o Aji Relleno Charquican: Composed for charqui and yellow peper that it gives the
colour.
o Arroz con Pato: Composed for duck, coriander, etc.

 After the food you can eat the sweets: La Melcocha and Sopaipilla.

3. AND FINALLY FOR AN INCREDIBLE TRIP, YOU SHOULD VISIT THE BEACHES AND
HAVE A CALM TIME:

• Los Palos Beach: 41 kilometers from the city of Tacna, Playa los Palos is located, the open
spa with low waves and very calm waters. This is an enclosure where you can camp, as well as
enjoy tacneña cuisine. It is a safe place for have fun.
• Boca del Río Spa: If you travel 52 km southwest of the city, at the mouth of the river Sama, we
can find one of the best beaches in Tacna, with shallow waters, in the vicinity there are
accommodation services, food and recreation centers. It is a charming place for enjoy with
friends or family.
