MILA
Life is a big classroom.

Mila, is an inspiring story of a woman who shared her life to those

she encountered - empowering them to find their purpose and their
potential, and through her example, find ways to realize their mission
in life.
Who is Mila? Mila Cabangon (Maricel Soriano) is an extraordinary
teacher. She is intelligent and she is able to connect with her
students. She is witty, animated and she expresses genuine concern
for her students’ welfare. But more than a teacher, Mila is a woman.
She knows how to love and lose. She gets hurt and yet, she knows
how to forgive. She’s principled and stands on her own. Most
importantly, like any other human being, she is not invincible. She is
weak.
Mila constantly searched for her place in the world. Like anyone who
seeks one’s identity and calling, she experienced the pain of living

and struggled to fulfill her mission in life. She fell in love for the right
reasons but with the wrong man. The teacher’s strike and the
deteriorating relationship with Primo (Piolo Pascual) proved to be
Mila’s catalyst. She found herself adrift in Ermita and lost in the
company of prostitutes (Cherry Pie Picache, Kaye Abad), sidewalk
vendors, street children and vagrants. The dregs of society became
Mila’s family. Love and compassion enabled her to continue her
vocation. In her own way, she educates the prostitutes. Her
makeshift classroom under the trees became the street children’s
refuge of learning. She saved a minor from the flesh trade (Angelica
Panganiban). She made a delinquent boy (Jiro Manio) understand the
love of his father. Somehow, she brought back the sanity of a war
shocked vagrant. She offered worth and hope to prostitutes.
Life’s lessons are not only taught in school, as the people around Mila
came to realize. She became their source of inspiration. Mila is true
to herself, and wherever she goes, she follows what her heart
teaches. Mila’s story will leave a mark on everyone whose life has
been touched by someone, those who see life as a constant learning
experience and those who live life in constant struggle to fulfill their
life’s advocacy.
