1 Introduction
2 Application Overview
Huawei launches eLTE2.2 DBS3900 LTE TDD (referred to as DBS3900 in this document),
which is an enterprise-oriented LTE product integrating wireless platform resources and
diverse technologies.
Based on Huawei advanced SingleRAN platform, the DBS3900 consists of two types of basic
function modules: baseband unit (BBU) (referred to as the BBU3900 in this document) and
remote radio unit (RRU). The BBU3900 is characterized by its small floor area, easy
installation, and low power consumption. Therefore, the BBU3900 can be easily installed in
the same place as an existing site. The RRU is compact and light. It can be installed near an
antenna to reduce feeder loss and improve system coverage.
Flexible combinations of the basic modules and auxiliary devices provide diverse site
solutions, which can meet customers' requirements for fast network construction.
3 Product Configurations
Table 3-4 Multi-carrier bandwidth combinations supporting CPRI compression under each RRU
type (applicable to single-band and dual-band configurations)
The license for CPRI compression must be centrally configured for the different carriers
of the same RRU. If the CPRI compression feature is selected, the algorithm of the
configurator calculates the number of RRU optical modules and the number of CPRI
compression licenses based on the assumption that CPRI compression is enabled for all
RRUs supporting CPRI compression.
The bandwidths of carriers for the same LBBP board can be different.
Table 3-7 Reference configurations for 2T2R/4T4R networking in the multi-RRU co-cell
combination scenario (5 MHz)
Only 1.8 GHz RRU3232 modules are supported in the multi-RRU co-cell scenario.
The number of licenses for the cell combination feature is equal to the number (before cell
combination) of cells involved in cell combination. The sales unit is per cell.
Check Relationships Between Site Types, Common Cells, and Logical Cells
The check relationships are as follows in the multi-RRU co-cell scenario:
The configuration principles of LBBP boards are as follows:
− 2T2R
Number of LBBP boards = max (Rounded Up [Number of logical cells/3.0],
Rounded Up [Number of physical cells/6.0])
− 4T4R
Number of LBBP boards = Rounded Up (Number of physical cells/3.0)
For details about the check relationships between the number of physical cells, number
of cells involved in cell combination, and number of logical cells, see the following
attachment:
Co-Cell Check
Rules.xls
Hot ring requires that the distance difference for the two optical fibers on the same RRU be less than 200
200 m, which means that the delay difference must be less than 4 Tc.
One 4T4R RRU can serve two combined 2T2R cells. The combination of RRU
neighboring cells refers the combination of cells served by different RRUs.
Table 3-9 Number of users supported by a single cell (when the LBBPd2 is used)
Table 3-10 Number of users supported by a single cell (when the LBBPd4 is used)
When a single LBBP board supports multiple sectors, the number of supported users is affected by the
capability of the LBBP board. When the combination of different bandwidths is supported, the number of
of RRC connected users supported by a single LBBP board is calculated based on Table 3-10, and cannot
cannot exceed the maximum number of RRC connected users (see Table 3-9) supported by a single LBBP
LBBP board.
The BBU box can be installed in an APM30H cabinet or OMB. If it is installed in an APM30H cabinet
(Ver.B), a maximum of three LBBP boards can be configured. If it is installed in an APM30H cabinet
(Ver.D), a maximum of four LBBP boards can be configured. If it is not installed in a cabinet, a maximum
of six LBBPd2 boards can be configured.
3.2.3 UPEUc
Table 3-13 UPEUc configurations
If the UMPT boards work in cold standby mode, the standby UMPT board needs to connect to the
transmission equipment and share the GPS with the UMPT board installed in slot 7. Therefore, the
transmission equipment and item 02230MAC that is used for two BBUs to share the same GPS need to be
be manually quoted.
LBBP
When the conditions for hot ring are met, hot ring is not supported if there are more than four pieces of
LBBP boards and the number of optical modules connecting to CPRI optical fibers exceeds the RRU
capability.

A GPS satellite card connecting to satellite antennas is integrated into the UMPT board to receive GPS
signals.
When the GPS satellite card cannot receive satellite signals, the internal clock switches to the free-run
mode. The eNodeB can keep properly working for 8 hours in this mode.
