Dear Judges:

Hello, my name is Michael Guerrero and this is my fourth and final year here at Garinger.
Firstly, I would like to thank you all for taking the time to be here today to participate in the
grading of our senior presentations. Throughout my journey in school I have interacted with
many different people and have helped those who needed help. After graduating I will be
attending Central Piedmont Community College and then transferring to the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte where I will pursue a degree in Psychology and become a counselor. The
topic of my presentation is on conservatism and why it is the right path for America.

This topic is very important to me because I see how divided our country is due to our political
ideology. I see it in our schools when people bring up anything remotely related to politics and
how quick they are to react and assume the worse in that person. Conservatism is the right option
for America because it focuses on problems that we can fix and it accepts those that we cannot.
We should not able conservatives as “racist” for their different opinions and we should not
censor/blame all conservatives for the acts of a few.

For my Service Learning Experience, I chose to teach a few classes about my topic and had the
class fill out a survey to see how they feel about topic. I chose these classes because they were
relevant to my topic: an AP United States History class, a Civics and Economics class, and a
Sociology class. When I was done teaching the class, I had the class fill out my survey to see
how they feel about my topic since it is a mostly minority school. I put the results of that survey
in my article that I wrote on the Garinger Rambler Page.
